Getting Greens!

I found a good chart there which shows the value of vegetables. I'm thinking of adding in smoothies to help bump up my veg count - nothing but veg and ice, maybe the odd scoop of Whey protein when I get some in again after crimbo.

Anyways check this link

I'm off to Tesco's soon to stock up on veg for my new range of veg smoothies -

lovely jubbly or sick bag full of carrots?

Colin Moffett

Colin won the Irish Bantamweight Title in Dublin on Saturday night. His opponent, Eugene Heagney, had previously beaten Colin and was still ranked as undefeated.

Sounds like another Rocky script but it doesn't end there. Even after suffering a broken nose he fought on for three more rounds to win the title!

Congrats me old mate - You may have a less than perfect nose but you have big balls and an even bigger heart -

:-)

Chest N Tri's

The recent Back N Bi's post generated a bit of interest so I thought you may like this Chest N tri's combo! Again go for an isolation of the arms first before moving onto the more compound move to bring the chest and tris into play.

Here you have the skull crusher - the dogs balls for the triceps.

After 10 of those bad boys switch to 20 reps on your next lift - in this case the close grip bench press.

With the Close Grip Bench I prefer to touch the belly button and push away - ouch!

Enjoy!

Meaty Bites Diet!

I just got this in an email - I take no responsibility for its content. Thanks Matt.

Meaty Bites Diet

I have three dogs and I was buying a large bag of Meaty Bites at Big W and standing in line at the check out.

The woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Meaty Bites Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 20 kilos before I woke up in intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Meaty Bites and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her.

Horrified, she asked if I'd ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned. I told her no; it was because I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls and a car hit me.

I thought one guy was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard as he staggered out the door.

Silly Bitch ... why else would I buy dog food?

He moves in mysterious ways

Check out the Weight Down Workshop - the faith based answer to losing weight!

Brilliant.

"What is beautiful about Weigh Down is that it teaches people to depend on and to turn back to their Creator for help. We all need hope, and we all need help. Another source of help has been encouraging people to turn to the Word of God and to Godly fellowship. There is a growing army of permanently thin people who are helping others to let go of the magnetic pull of food."

Back n Bi's

Many of you will have used a back and biceps routine. Many of you will also be on a push / pull routine or full body. This combination of two great exercises is one of my current favourites when working back and arms and can be incorporated into your routine regardless of which split you use. Full body guys can also benefit from doubling up exercises like this to squeeze some arm work in between their compound moves.

Start with a Barbell Curl.

Curl the weight up and down for a solid 10 repetitions. Use a pretty heavy weight which would make it difficult to get 11 or 12 reps with good form.

Then, without rest, keep an UNDERHAND grip and go to a Bent Over Barbell Row for 20 reps.

(This guy is dropping a bit too low and is using an overhand grip. Aim to keep technique a bit tighter)

There is nothing wrong with overhand grip but by staying with the underhand grip you keep the focus on your biceps - woohoo - disco muscles getting pumped - you saw it here first.

I was doing these one day and walked out of free weights room where the first guy I met said

'Look at the size of your arms!'

I shall say no more. Enjoy!

Rachael 'Pocket Rocket' Johnston

As many of you know, the missus was going for her first ever Power lifting competition today.

I would just like to say thanks to everyone who showed their support.

Rach lifted a total of 275 kg over three lifts today (she needed to beat 270kg) - this qualifies her for her next competition. This is when we see about really setting records.

As it was her first comp we didn't go 'balls out' on the weights and instead had Rach going for capable targets -

bench press - bodyweight - 55kg
squat - 92.5kg
dead lift - 127.5 kg

She set new records for all 3 lifts in the 56kg category and although she is still classed as a junior, set 2 new senior records at this weight.

I am waiting for some video footage to get mailed through to me and I will add that to the blog
when I get it.

Thanks again guys.
